Privacy
The connection test is designed so that your results never leave your device. This page explains exactly what that means.
The test runs in your browser
- All statistics (percentiles, jitter, timeout counts) are computed locally in JavaScript. We do not receive them.
- We store no results, no history and no profile. There is no account on this site.
- The test does not read your IP address from the page, and it does not attempt to fingerprint your device.
What our servers see
- The probe endpoints receive ordinary HTTP and WebSocket requests. Like any web server, our infrastructure (Cloudflare) processes request metadata such as IP address, user agent and the edge location handling the request, for delivery, security and abuse prevention.
- The probe endpoints return an empty response or echo a 12-byte frame. They store nothing and log no measurement data.
- Requests to the probe endpoints are rate limited to prevent abuse, which requires counting requests per IP address in short-lived memory.
The download-pressure phase
The latency-under-load phase downloads a large file from a neutral public endpoint to put your connection under pressure. That request goes directly from your browser to that endpoint; we only observe how long it takes, and we send no data to it.
Analytics
If analytics is enabled on this site, it is Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation, used to understand which pages are useful. It sets cookies. It is not used to build advertising profiles, and we do not run third-party ad networks, affiliate pixels or social trackers.
Affiliate links
Outbound affiliate links take you to a third-party site that has its own privacy policy and, typically,
its own cookies. We mark those links with rel="sponsored". See the
affiliate disclosure.
Your choices
You can use the site without running the test, and you can block analytics with any content blocker without losing any functionality. There is nothing to opt out of beyond that.
